Adam Handling promotes new group general manager

George Hersey has been promoted to group general manager of the Adam Handling Restaurant Group.

Hersey joined the group two years ago as general manager for the opening of The Frog Hoxton, Iron Stag and Bean & Wheat.

He will now be responsible for all Adam Handling Restaurant Group sites across London.

“George is a real star of the industry, and so valued in our business,” says Handling.

“His quick progression with us reflects not only his natural ability to manage all operational elements of a business but also to help it thrive, even in these incredibly difficult times.”

As well as his operational and management talents, Hersey is a strong voice in the company’s sustainability commitments, maintaining the group ethos, building strong links with ethical companies in east London during his time at The Frog Hoxton, and communicating the importance of reducing the industry’s environmental impact.

“George is incredibly passionate about making positive change in the industry,” adds Nicola Gartenberg, operations director at the Adam Handling Restaurant Group.

“He’s played a pivotal part in our group’s ‘Why waste waste?’ campaign and continues to be at the forefront of sustainability discussions, with his role on the WRAP advisory board.

“He has taken on the role as our group general manager at a turbulent time in the industry and we are excited to watch him to continue to grow with the group.”

Before joining the group, 28-year-old Hersey worked at venues from Cornwall to Warwickshire from the age of 15.

His first full-time job in hospitality was as general manager of The Boot Inn, Lapworth, aged 21.
