Hush Collection 'performing well ahead of expectations'

The Hush Collection, a 13-strong, London-based restaurant group consisting of Hush Mayfair, Cabana, Haché and Little Planted Kitchen, has announced its financial results for the year ending 26 December 2021, with founder and executive chairman Jamie Barber claiming the restaurants are "performing well ahead of expectations".

Led by Barber, alongside business partner and group CEO Ed Standring, the group reports that turnover is up 8.7% from 2019 – the last pandemic-free year.

The company's strong performance throughout last year was marred only by the emergence of the Covid-19 Omicron variant in December. Despite this leading to the cancellation of a considerable number of Christmas bookings, the restaurants performed ahead of expectations.

The group reports turnover of £11.48m, up 36.3% on 2020 (£8.42m). EBITDA is placed at £1.076m (2020: EBITDA loss of £389k), with senior debt now repaid in full.

The recent refurbishment of the Cabana estate supports the brand's focus on being preceived as a modern, vibrant group of independent Latin American restaurants. The Cabana franchise in Saudi Arabia continues to trade well, with an additional site expected to open later this year. Further international development is planned as the group seeks new franchise territories.

Hush continues to trade well and is on track to have one of its best trading years to date – a notable achievement for a 20-year-old brand.

Haché is in the spotlight for its recently launched, limited edition Truffle Croissant Burger, which won the 'Most Instagrammable Dish' award at this year's Taste of London event.

Little Planted Kitchen, the group's vegan dark kitchen concept, is now operating out of 12 locations, including its first Deliveroo Editions kitchen.

Barber comments of the trading update: "We are proud of our 2021 results, with our restaurants performing well ahead of expectations. As well as an exceptional year for Hush, we are now in a position to consider new UK and international franchise opportunities for Cabana whilst our focus on new product development and recipe collaborations has resulted in solid trading for Haché.

"Whilst we remain cautious in the short-term as we navigate through a myriad pressures including a cost of living crisis, squeeze on consumer spending, labour shortage and material increases in utility bills, we are confident that with our continued commitment to brand development and drive to create exceptional experiences, our guests will continue to visit us for a fabulous night out."
