H2O Road Test: Bring the heat with TABASCO®

H2O is coming at you with another insightful Road Test! This time, Anthony Murphy, or ‘Murf’ as he’s fondly known, director of The Beefy Boys, takes to the kitchen to put TABASCO® through its paces

It sure feels good to get back behind the wheels at Road Test HQ! It’s a pleasure to bring you yet another chapter of this informative series, developed by our parent company H2O Publishing. Why? Because we want to provide a platform for the suppliers that help this industry tick, showcasing their products to talented chefs all over the UK. Each instalment asks our chosen culinary whizz to trial a key market product in a professional kitchen, their feedback allowing us to piece together a no-fuss summary from someone who has experimented with it first-hand. We’re keen to do the heavy lifting so you don’t have to and hope you can use this helpful guide to inform and inspire your kitchen team, encouraging them to have fun and get creative with ingredients.

The latest edition saw reigning National Burger Awards champ Murf of The Beefy Boys get to grips with TABASCO® sauce. Creative Foods is the exclusive distribution partner for TABASCO® brand sauces for the UK foodservice and manufacturing market.

“We focused on the TABASCO® Sriracha sauce for the Road Test,” says Helen Hyde, commercial manager for the brand. “It’s a Thai classic, infused with a kick of TABASCO® sauce, crafted to meet the demand for global and exciting flavours. Its heat comes from ripened red jalapeños and barrel-aged tabasco peppers, blended with the flavours of traditional Thai sriracha. It’s a thick, rich, sweet and savoury sauce. TABASCO® Sriracha sauce is preservative-free, vegetarian, vegan, gluten- and fat-free. The rounded flavour works perfectly with burgers and as a coating for chicken wings.”

Research by Toluna from March this year shows that 40% of consumers would add hot sauce to their burgers when eating out, with 40% also stating that they would order a dish that contains a branded ingredient.

“Hot sauces are a quick and easy way to add variety to your menu and help you tap into so many trends,” adds Hyde. “People are always looking to customise their dish, so a bottle of TABASCO® Sriracha on the table allows them to add as much or little heat as they want.”
