Azzurri marks 'transformational year' and eyes up expansion
Azzurri Group is celebrating a landmark achievement for the year ended 30 June 2024, in which the group saw an 18% rise in revenue to £303.1m.
The owner of brands including ASK Italian, Boojum, Coco di Mama and Zizzi also announced its evolution from a restaurant operator to a hospitality investment platform. This year saw the group launch the first mainland UK outpost for QSR brand Boojum after acquiring the concept in 2023, with the business also signing an agreement to launch 60 Dave's Hot Chicken locations across the UK and Ireland.
Gunning for growth
The group, which currently has around 230 locations nationwide, has also cited plans to launch "new sites across all the businesses" over the next year, despite the rising costs facing the restaurant sector.
While many hospitality bosses continue to voice concerns over the upcoming increase in National Insurance Contributions, Azzurri claims to be "cautiously optimistic" about the industry's recovery over the next 12 months, hoping to benefit from increased wages and reduced borrowing costs throughout 2025.
"While UK consumer confidence continues to be impacted by global macroeconomic conditions, falling inflation, interest rate cuts and rises in wages means we are cautiously optimistic the global hospitality industry will see further transformation and recovery in the coming year," notes the group.
