Individual Restaurants reports record-breaking Christmas sales

Individual Restaurants, which owns and operates a portfolio of 32 venues nationwide, has reported record Christmas sales and impressive covers growth, outperforming the market during the peak trading period.

The group saw total sales growth of 14% across its portfolio – which includes Piccolino, Riva Blu and Restaurant Bar & Grill – in December, seeing its biggest-ever trading day on 13 December 2024. Like-for-like sales increased by 8% in December, while covers increased by 4% year-on-year. The success was reflected nationwide, with 70% of sites achieving record-breaking sales days throughout the month.

An upward trajectory

Under the direction of CEO Andrew Garton, who joined the business in January 2023, the group reported a £74m turnover in March 2024, making it the company's most successful year to date, fuelled by strategic investments, new openings and the evolution of the Piccolino brand.

The business injected £4m in renovations across its estate in the last 12 months, investing in its Riva Blu brand across the North, while revamping branches of Piccolino in Sheffield, Virginia Water, Ilkley, Manchester and Birmingham.

Garton also made several strategic hires and promotions to bolster the executive board – including the appointment of Neve Rabbou as group sales and marketing director. This year, the group is open to new brand propositions, franchise opportunities and global expansion.

“It has been a milestone Christmas for Individual Restaurants with record-breaking sales and impressive covers growth and we’re proud to have outperformed the market in terms of spend and transactions," says Garton. "Investing in the evolution of our flagship brand Piccolino has been a key driving force behind the sales success and will continue to be a catalyst for growth as we seek to develop our portfolio and enter new markets in 2025."
