Jordan King takes over Isla at The Standard
The Standard, London has confirmed Jordon Ezra King as its 2025 collaborator, with the chef bringing his culinary vision to Isla this spring.
King has taken over the menu at the hotel's all-day restaurant, drawing inspiration from Italian cuisine and its many cross-cultural Mediterranean influences.
Having worked at various restaurants across London and Paris – including Rubedo, Brawn, Le Saint Eutropé, Burro e Salvia and Yard – King became a recipe developer at the Mob test kitchen, where his bold cooking style garnered a devoted following.
King's kitchen takeover
The chef has now created a menu for his three-month takeover of Isla (19 March to 29 June). To complement the experience, The Standard has partnered with Campari on an exclusive cocktail list, designed by King in collaboration with the hotel's drinks consultant, Zoe Burgess.
King's snack offering includes crisp polenta and crostini with lemon labneh and anchovies, while starters include burrata with endive and citrus; pizza fritta topped with fresh ricotta, dates, sumac and mint; and tuna crud with sweet onions, capers and Urfa chilli.
The menu provides a mix of innovative dishes and comforting classics when it comes to mains, with highlights including braised lamb and orzo, slow-cooked with saffron and winter tomatoes; calamarata with a fragrant fennel and orange seafood ragú; and Chicken Milanese Panino.
Several sides are also available, including grilled cabbage with sherry butter and almonds, and sprouting broccoli with lemon and bagna cauda.
A trio of desserts conclude the experience, with guests choosing from honey and chamomile panna cotta, orange and almond cake or a chocolate torte with amarena cherries.
“I’m interested in the fundamental idea that all great food is the result of movement: the movement of people, ingredients and ideas," says the chef. "Those elements coming together in the right place at the right time is the catalyst for almost everything we eat."
