Maki & Ramen to bring a taste of Tokyo to the North East
Newcastle-based premier shopping, leisure and dining destination, Eldon Square, has announced that Japanese restaurant brand Maki & Ramen will open its doors at the centre this summer.
The arrival of Maki & Ramen forms part of Eldon Square’s strategic push to enhance its hospitality mix with experience-focused operators. The centre has seen a wave of recent lettings, including Wingstop, with future additions including Flight Club and Freight Island, intended to drive footfall and increase dwell time.
Ten years of Maki & Ramen
Launched a decade ago, Maki & Ramen continues to bridge the gap between high-end sushi restaurants and grab-and-go convenience. The brand has grown a strong regional footprint with locations in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Leeds, and the new 3,150 sq ft restaurant at Eldon Square marks its 10th UK opening, and its first in the North East.
The restaurant will feature Maki & Ramen’s signature Sakura blossom ceilings, rose gold accents, a full sushi bar, traditional Japanese menu and Japanese-inspired cocktails.
Rebecca Cuthbertson, marketing lead at Maki & Ramen, comments: “Eldon Square was the perfect location for our 10th restaurant. It’s central, full of energy and gives us the opportunity to introduce our food to as many people as possible."
