Speedboat Bar to open in Notting Hill

Chef-founder Luke Farrell will launch Speedboat Bar in July, bringing the neon-lit energy of Bangkok’s Chinatown to The Electric on Portobello Road.

Joining the original Chinatown venue on Rupert Street, the new site, reimagined at The Electric, will bring the same fiery flavours, operated in partnership with JKS Restaurants.

Guests can expect fragrant curries, zingy salads, wok-tossed stir-fries and noodles, served from lunch until late. All dishes can be enjoyed alongside whisky sodas, Singha beer towers and cocktails.

'Less Bangkok shophouse ... more engine room'

Farrell says of the upcoming launch: "A Thai speedboat racing team isn't driven by one person; it's the whole crew – tight, fearless and tuned to perfection.

"From the meticulous mechanics squeezing every last drop from their engines to the traditional boat builders, the gleaming livery and bold paintwork down the sides, these machines are a craft. A melding of classic and contemporary, and quintessentially Thai. That spirit defines Speedboat Bar.

"We're excited to announce the opening of Speedboat Bar at The Electric this summer. This time around, the interiors are a bit different – less Bangkok shophouse with a clubhouse above, more engine room. A place to build, tune and roar these beasts into life ... so we bought one in; a real Thai speedboat engine, decked out in chrome."
