Matt Abé's solo venture to open this autumn
Acclaimed chef Matt Abé will launch his Mayfair restaurant this autumn, having revealed that his first solo venture will be called Bonheur by Matt Abé.
Having worked under the mentorship of Gordon Ramsay for 18 years, most recently taking on the chef-patron role at the three-Michelin-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Abé now brings his own concept to the former Le Gavroche site on Upper Brook Street.
Abé says of the upcoming launch: "Bonheur translates to 'happiness' in French, so for me, Bonheur is a place of escapism. We're breathing new life into an iconic site, creating a space that is elevated without overwhelming; that is work, timeless and comfortable; and that celebrates community, craftmanship and the bounty of the British Isles.
A peek into the restaurant
Subtle nods to Abé's Australian roots will be woven throughout the venue's design, while menus will focus on classically rooted cuisine with a contemporary touch. Offering a personalised fine-dining experience, guests will have the freedom to choose between a more approachable à la carte selection or explore one of the carefully curated tasting menus.
For a more intimate encounter, the Chef's Table, 'Petit Bonheur', will seat six guests for a front-row experience of the kitchen's open, collaborative cooking.
Further details on Bonheur by Matt Abé, including reservations, opening dates and menus, will be announced in due course.
