Stein to mark 50 years with alumni dinner

Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant on Padstow Harbour will celebrate its 50th anniversary in September, marking the occasion with a special one-night-only alumni dinner.

On 25 September, the event will reunite some of the chefs who have defined the famous Padstow kitchen over the last five decades, including Nathan Outlaw, Stephane Delourme, Paul Ripley, Stuart Pate and Roy Brett.

As part of a five-course menu, each returning chef will serve one of Stein's renowned recipes inspired by their time in the kitchen.

Diners can expect:

  • A selection of canapés, including coconut prawns with papaya from Stephane Delourme, who spent over 20 years at The Seafood Restaurant.
  • Classic Maryland crab cakes from Paul Ripley, the Michelin-recognised former head chef for Rick Stein.
  • Mackerel recheado, a dish created by Scottish seafood chef Roy Brett, Stein's former executive chef.
  • Fillet of cod with butter beans, fennel and aioli from seafood legend Nathan Outlaw, alongside The Seafood Restaurant's current head chef, Pete Murt.
  • Apple tarte tatin from current pastry chef Andrew Sullivan and former head pastry chef Stuart Pate.

The evening will finish with Stein and his son, Ed, taking to the DJ decks in homage to the restaurant's beginnings as a nightclub.

Tickets are limited and priced at £195pp for five courses and entertainment. Places will be allocated via a ballot, which closes at midnight on 24 August.
