Garcia to bring The Chalet back to Somerset House
Alpine-inspired restaurant The Chalet returns to Skate at Somerset House this festive season, launching on 13 November.
Created by pop-up specialist Jimmy Garcia, The Chalet’s seasonal menu features winter favourites such as raclette and warming drinks like mulled wine. Running alongside the ice skating at the central London venue, it’s The Chalet’s fourth year at the location.
Inside, the space is decked out in retro ski memorabilia, fairy lights, (fake) fur and wood.
The menu is curated by Garcia and inspired by his own Alpine experience, as he previously ran ski chalets in the Alps.
Each table features a raclette machine so guests can serve themselves and the food is fresh every single time. It’s served with charcuterie, buttered new potatoes, in-house freshly baked bread, cornichons and salad.
About Jimmy Garcia
Yorkshire-born with Spanish heritage, Garcia’s hospitality journey started in 2011 when he turned his passion for high quality ingredients into his profession.
He left his job in finance and turned his living room into a 25-seater restaurant and now puts his name to interactive pop-ups at Southbank Centre, Somerset House and beyond.
He is also chef owner at Jimmy Garcia Catering. To prevent excess waste, Jimmy Garcia Catering donates surplus food from events to the Oasis Community Fridge in Waterloo.
