Big Mamma to open Gloria Osteria in Dublin

Parisian-born restaurant group Big Mamma will launch Gloria Osteria in Dublin this November.

The Westmoreland Street restaurant will bring glamorous Italian dining, inspired by 1970s Milan, to the Irish capital.

Taking over a 19th-century bank that the group has carefully restored, the restaurant will be adorned with timber joinery and chandeliers, with a 10-metre-long marble bar taking centre stage under the glow of 700 vintage bottles.

The burgundy main dining room will also be filled with vintage curiosities and archival fashion handpicked from Italian markets. The space will also feature The Salottino, a private dining room with a capacity for 22 guests.

The menu

Bringing the authenticity of the flagship Gloria Osteria in Milan – Big Mamma's first and only restaurant in Italy – Davide Migallo, head chef at the Dublin branch, has devised a menu of Italian classics. Signature dishes include one-metre-long spaghettone tossed in a creamy truffle sauce, and veal ossobucco, slow-cooked in Guinness.

Desserts will be oversized and indulgent, including soufflé al ciccolato made with Valrhona chocolate, and the six-inch-tall Incomparable Lemon Pie.

A selection of house cocktails will also be offered, including the new Poker Negroni, a triple negroni with a twist, along with a selection of Italian wines.
