Mr Bao founders to open new site Cafe Kowloon
Hospitality group 6 of 1 will unveil its latest restaurant Cafe Kowloon this winter, joining its other brands around London.
Cafe Kowloon is a modern Cantonese kitchen, inspired by the way modern Hong Kong likes to eat and drink.
Taking inspiration from everything from dai pai dong street food vendors and dim sum houses, to world-class cocktail spots and restaurants that are renowned for one specific dish, the menu will celebrate the city’s eclectic and evolving culinary scene.
6 of 1's latest concept joins other sites Mr Bao, Daddy Bao, Master Bao, Good Measure and, most recent, Wonton Charlie’s. In fact, the latter sits at the front of Cafe Kowloon, which guests will pass through to get to the new restaurant.
"This opening has been a long time in the making, so it’s very exciting to finally see all the site hunting, research and development come to life," says Frank Yeung and Abhinav Malde, co-founders of 6 of 1. "We’re especially thrilled to be joining such a vibrant neighbourhood, surrounded by some amazing hospitality spots, and we hope to become a meaningful part of the local community."
Who is 6 of 1?
Founded by Yeung and Malde when they opened Mr Bao in Peckham in 2016, 6 of 1 has grown its estate by opening sites in locations such as Westfield shopping centre, where it has found success for its bao-led brands.
Cafe Kowloon continues the evolution of the group, as it branches into new cuisines and concepts.
"This marks a big step in the journey for 6 of 1: a new site, a new corner of London, and our first move beyond Taiwanese food," add the founders. "It’s a project fuelled by real passion from the whole team, and we can’t wait to open the doors. As always, our focus is on building a team, a menu and a space that allows people to relax and have fun. Delivering exceptional hospitality is what drives us and we’re excited to bring that spirit to this new space."
