Chris Leach and Melissa Thompson to cook with Mam Sham

Maria Georgiou and Rhiannon Butler have announced the return of their popular supper club Mam Sham, once again bringing together narrative-led dinners and a host of guest chefs.

On 27 February, Chris Leach of Manteca, chef Melissa Thompson, Melek Erdal and Sam Wong of Lil’ Wong Bakes will all be cooking at Lock Warehouse in Hackney, alongside comedy from Kae Kurd, Jin Hao Li and Britney.

After dinner, Mam Sham will be handing over the reins to Goya Gumbani, who will host and curate his ‘After Midnight’ show, with live acts performing late into the night.

Mam Sham? What's this about then?

Launched in 2017, Georgiou and Butler roped in their hospitality friends to help them create the kind of supper club they’d want to go to.

The concept lies in crafting dinners as narrative experiences, where food, design and objects are orchestrated to tell a story.

Returning to the stage for the first time since 2024, this year the founders are inviting guests into a carefully curated world, bringing a comedic narrative to life through food, which comes in their signature, story-led packaging.

Mam Sham will design and direct a unique three-course banquet. Starters will be cooked by Leach, chef and co-founder of Manteca. Mains will be a collaboration by award-winning food writers and chefs Thompson, who will bring her bold, flavour-driven barbecue cooking to the table; and Alevi Kurdish writer, cook and author of Facing East, Melek Erdal. Thompson was also a guest judge at the inaugural Fried Chicken Championships

Desserts will be served by Wong of Lil’ Wong Bakes. Comedy will take place between courses.

All ticket sales from the supper club and after party will be donated to Praxis, a human rights charity which provides support and campaigns for migrants and refugees.
