MEATliquor closes half of its portfolio

Burger business MEATliquor has closed five of its eight venues, as the group begins a restructuring.

Dine Out understands that its sites in Islington, Clapham Junction, Queensway, Brighton and Forest Hill have all closed, the latter trading as 'MEATliquor pub' The Dartmouth Arms (pictured).

The closures mean MEATliqour is left with three operating venues: Oxford Circus, East Dulwich and sports bar BLOODsports in Covent Garden.

News of the Brighton closure was released mid-March, not long before co-founder Scott Collins appointed advisors to assess options for the group going forward.

The business closed its Leeds restaurant in September 2025.

Dine Out approached Collins for comment, but he declined, saying he was focussing on the affected team members.

MEATliquor began as a cult London street food sensation in 2009, founded by Collins and chef Yianni Papoutsis. Originally a burger truck known as the MEATwagon, the business grew from a pub residency in New Cross called #MEATeasy into its first permanent site on Welbeck Street in 2011.
