Uncle Hon’s BBQ launches new site crowdfunder

Uncle Hon’s BBQ, the Texan barbecue concept that has been residing at All My Friends in Hackney Wick, has announced the launch of its crowdfunder campaign to fund the opening of its first permanent restaurant.

The campaign supports the transformation of the former Silo site above Crate Brewery in Hackney Wick into an 80-cover, canal-side restaurant.

Founder Man Hon Luk, who began his barbecue journey after meeting Michelin-starred Interstellar BBQ pitmaster John Bates, had been cooking at Hackney's All My Friends until December last year.

This residency allowed the team to develop a distinct identity of Texan barbecue, layered with Asian flavours inspired by Luk's Hong Kong roots.

While not strictly zero-waste, the project is inspired by Silo’s philosophy, with a commitment to more thoughtful, less wasteful operations.

Crowdfunding

To help bring the restaurant to life, Uncle Hon’s BBQ has launched a crowdfunder campaign with an initial goal of £30,000. Funds raised will go towards infrastructure and equipment.

On Friday and Saturday nights, the venue will transition into a music-led space, featuring DJs, live performances and a late-night menu of grilled dishes.

Supporters of the crowdfunder campaign can pre-book meals with early access to reservations; join exclusive BBQ masterclasses led by Uncle Hon; and contribute donations of any amount to support the project.
