National Fish & Chip Day arrives
National Fish & Chip Day is being celebrated across the UK today (5 June), as the nation celebrates one of its favourite menu items.
Founded by NEODA, National Fish & Chip Day was created to celebrate all things fish and chips, and to unite all those in the industry, recognising the importance and impact of the sector they are a part of.
Now entering its second decade, National Fish & Chip Day is a key moment in the restaurant industry calendar.
Its purpose is to shine a national spotlight on fish and chips, and remind customers, communities and the wider food sector of the enduring place this dish holds in British life.
Last year, 440m people saw, read or heard about National Fish & Chip Day, so it’s well worth getting the friers going this Friday.
"Diners are increasingly keen to understand more about the provenance of their food," says Bjørn-Erik Stabell, UK director of Seafood from Norway, which is one of National Fish & Chip Day's sponsors. "Be sure to talk about fish origin and sustainability credentials – on menus and through front-of-house teams – to bring a greater sense of value to this iconic dish."
