Bamboo Mat to open in Canary Whart
Japanese and Peruvian restaurant Bamboo Mat is set to open a second larger site in a new location at Canary Wharf’s Wood Wharf this September.
Following on from its debut in Stratford, the second Bamboo Mat will be housed in 364 sq m site, offering 82 covers over two floors.
There will be a raw bar and cocktail bar on the ground floor, and robata, sushi and hot kitchen on the first floor.
"Bamboo Mat Canary Wharf has been a long time in the making and we’re excited to unveil a completely unique design and larger site for our celebrated Nikkei offering," says owner Denis Gobjila. "We’ve been watching Canary Wharf turn into a real foodie destination over the last few years, and we can’t wait to bring a new dimension to its increasingly diverse restaurant scene."

The interiors have been designed to take guests on an immersive journey inspired by the dialogue between "Japanese precision and Peruvian energy".
Bamboo Mat arrived on to the London food scene in 2022, described at the time by food critic Grace Dent as "plates of Peruvian joy".
Guests can expect premium sushi and twists on Japanese classics such as teriyaki, ceviche and tiradito matched with an Asian- and Peruvian-leaning cocktail list.
