Houston Hot Chicken to debut in Stevenage
Houston Hot Chicken, the US chicken brand acquired by PizzaExpress earlier this year, will open its debut UK site in Stevenage, it has been confirmed.
Opening this autumn, the launch marks the first milestone in the brand's UK expansion plans, with an aim to roll out 50 restaurants nationwide over the next three years.
The people of Stevenage can expect hot chicken sandwiches, tenders, loaded fries, waffles and house-made lemonades, with a heat scale that climbs from ‘Mild’ to 'Houston, We Have A Problem', a two million Scoville sandwich that requires diners to sign a waiver before taking the first bite.
"Houston Hot Chicken has attitude," says Paula MacKenzie, group CEO of PizzaExpress, Mac & Wings and Houston Hot Chicken. "It has personality. And it knows how to make an entrance. Stevenage is where Britain meets Houston Hot Chicken for the very first time and we've got every intention of making sure it's impossible to ignore. If you're expecting a ribbon, a pair of oversized scissors and someone holding a giant cheque, you're going to be disappointed."
