Chef George Ormond joins The Barbary
The Barbary Notting Hill has announced the appointment of George Ormond as its new executive chef.
Ormond joins from Marylebone restaurant Lita. Before that he was head chef at Murano, taking the post at the age of just 25.
At his new post in the Studio Paskin restaurant, he will integrate his French, Spanish and Italian classical training with the spices and traditions of the Barbary Coast.
"George brings so much more than an impressive set of credentials," says Zoë Paskin, co-founder of Studio Paskin. "He is a passionate cook, a natural raconteur, and a true restaurateur with a quiet ambition that was clear from the moment we met. We’re incredibly excited about this new chapter and everything he will bring to The Barbary."
Ormond's arrival introduces a selection of new dishes to the menu, including Lamb Batbout, Harissa, Muscovado Labneh; Merguez, Date & Pickled Walnut, Mint; Rainbow Chard Borani, Pine Nut, Aleppo Butter; and Wild Cornish Sea Bass, Chermoula, Ras el Hanout.
Housed in a Grade II-listed building on Westbourne Grove, The Barbary Notting Hill features signature counter dining alongside a spacious dining room.
Studio Paskin opened its debut restaurant The Palomar in Soho in 2014, followed by The Barbary in Covent Garden. In 2017, they transformed Soho pub The Blue Posts, a Georgian pub dating from 1739, to create an intimate 12-seater Michelin-awarded restaurant, Evelyn’s Table, and a low-intervention wine bar on the first floor, The Mulwray.
