Kudu team to open rotisserie chicken concept
The team behind South African-inspired restaurant Kudu will return to south London in November with a new wood-fired rotisserie chicken concept.
Braai Bird will take over the former Kudu Grill site on Nunhead Lane.
Co-founders and partners Amy Corbin and Patrick Williams opened the original Kudu restaurant on Queens Road, Peckham, in 2017.
Inspired by the South African braai tradition of eating around an open fire, Braai Bird's menu will centre around wood-fired rotisserie chicken served with house-made South African sauces and sides. A short drinks menu will feature house cocktails, beer and South African wines.
“Since moving to Marylebone in 2025, we always knew that we wanted to return to south London, where our Kudu story began," say the duo. "Opening in the former Kudu Grill site makes it feel even more like a full-circle moment. We want it to be a place where people can come together, eat really good rotisserie chicken and chips, and feel at home.”
In 2021, Corbin and Williams opened Curious Kudu, a gallery and private dining space, alongside Kudu Grill, which showcased the traditional South African braai style of grilling using only wood and charcoal.
In September 2025, Kudu relocated to a new flagship home in Marylebone, bringing together the best of their previous restaurant concepts under one roof.
