Gusto's 14th venue to open next week

Premium-casual restaurant group Gusto Italian will open its 14th venue on Thursday 1 December.

Following a £1.8m investment to transform the Mitre Hotel building on Oxford High Street, the 10,000sq ft restaurant and bar is ready to serve the public. The site offers 150 covers on the ground floor, as well as a 60-cover first floor function room.

New to the venue is the theatre kitchen, uniting the cooking and dining areas to create an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs at work. The Oxford branch will also host Gusto's new pizza experience, providing two and a half hours of feasting and entertainment at the chef's table.

Gusto CEO Matt Snell comments: "I'm over the moon to be opening this amazing restaurant. It's been a labour of love and, from the outset, we have taken our responsibility as custodians of this historic building seriously and placed significant weight on preserving the listed features, while introducing design elements that have made Gusto Italian so popular. The result, however, has exceeded my expectations."

The Oxford opening marks a notable step in Gusto's two-year growth strategy, as the company continues to expand its footprint and make substantial upgrades to its core estate. This year, it has already successfully redeveloped its Edinburgh and Alderley Edge locations, as part of a self-funded CAPEX programme.

On top of investing in its restaurants, the brand has committed to investing in its people. In April, the group announced a new partnership with PayCaptain, on top of creating an apprenticeship scheme to enable junior managers to achieve a degree-level qualification and progress within the business.
