Michelin Guide reveals stars and awards for 2023

On Monday 27 March, the prestigious Michelin Stars were unveiled at the 2023 Michelin Guide ceremony for Britain and Ireland.

Marle, the restaurant from culinary director Skye Gyngell, at Heckfield Place, retained its Green Michelin Star this year. Regarded for its sustainable dining credentials, Marle's second Michelin Green Star acknowledges the best-in-class ethical and environmental standards found at the restaurant, including the use of estate-grown produce from Heckfields organic Home Farm and biodynamic Market Garden.

Two talented head chefs, Sam Yorke and Tomás Gormley, have been awarded a Michelin star for their first restaurant, Heron in Leith, having recently launched their second restaurant Skua in Edinburgh. Aged just 25 and 28 years old, the pair are the youngest chefs in Scotland to receive a Michelin star for their restaurant. Edinburgh now has five Michelin star venues, three of which are located in Leith.

UK hotel group Exclusive Collection earned a Michelin Star for The Pass at South Lodge, less than one year after re-opening with Ben Wilkinson at the helm. In addition, Latymer at Pennyhill Park and Bybrook at The Manor House, have both retained their coveted Michelin starred status for 2023.

Woven by Adam Smith has also achieved one Michelin star, presented to executive chef Smith himself. This comes within six months of the restaurant’s launch in September 2022.

Luca – the Clerkenwell Italian restaurant from the team behind the Michelin-starred The Clove Club – has been awarded its first Michelin star, while Peter Sanchez-Iglesias’s Paco Tapas in Bristol retained its star, along with Jun Tanaka’s The Ninth, which re-opened in Fitzrovia earlier this month after being forced to close following a fire.
