Glasgow's Nonna Said launches vegan menu

Glasgow-based pizzeria and cocktail bar Nonna Said is set to be the first city restaurant to replicate its full menu with a vegan version.

Packed with quirky Neapolitan-style pizzas and fusion street food, fan favourites such as the salt and chilli chicken pizza, will be recreated with meat and dairy alternatives, and most of the menu can also be recreated for low-gluten diets.

Ensuring those with dietary requirements are not missing out on the full dining experience, Nonna Said has launched its own homemade vegan pepperoni and will use fried faux chicken topped with a cheese alternative and curry mayo for the salt and chilli chicken pizza. The happy highlander will feature vegan haggis and potato smiley faces.

Adam Stevenson, general manager at Nonna Said, comments: "With more and more customers looking for low-gluten and vegan options we wanted to make sure that everyone can have a great meal with us – whether they’re flexitarian, vegetarian, vegan or have food intolerances, we’ve created a menu to suit.

"We did a lot of research into how we could recreate our original offering and have managed to source an incredible vegan pizza cheese which is a real game-changer, as well as creating a number of homemade meat alternatives  the homemade pepperoni our chefs have made really has to be tasted to be believed and we’re confident that this is the best vegan pizza in the country. As well as creating vegan versions of pizzas, we’ve added new vegan street food and loaded fries, loaded nachos and loaded hash browns to our menu."

Nonna Said opened in 2021, serving up pizzas and cocktails with a twist. The 120-cover pizzeria and cocktail bar, located in the Merchant City area of Glasgow, is decorated in original murals by Glasgow artist Conzo, who specialises in illustrative graffiti.

Prices for Nonna Said’s pizzas start at £8.50 with a £2 supplement on the homemade low-gluten pizza bases. Cocktails start at £6.
