Long Chim to launch UK residency

Long Chim will establish its first-ever residency in London's Soho in October.

Located on Ruper Street, Long Chim will take over the ground floor of the Hovarda. Long Chim, which means 'come and try', will offer accessible menus of authentic dishes inspired by modern Bangkok's food stalls and markets.

David Thompson is the concept's chef and culinary lead. His decision to leave London for his adopted home in Bangkok more than 10 years ago left a gap in London's dining scene, and his return to the capital has been eagerly anticipated. The menu is anchored in his knowledge, understanding and interpretation of dishes enjoyed day and night in Bangkok, honed from decades spent exploring the network of alleys and lanes across the city.

Chef Patipan 'Pae' Jipromma, currently head chef at Thompson's Michelin-starred Aksorn restaurant in Bangkok, will head up the kitchen team throughout the residency, which will run into early 2025. Pae has worked alongside Thompson for more than five years.

"Long Chim is intended to be fun, 'sanuk' as they would say in Thailand, with food and drink that everyone loves," chimes Thompson. "Our menu has all the dishes that Thais miss the most when away from home. Pae and I are looking forward to opening our residency in London with our Hovarda partners."
