AngloThai is coming to Marylebone

Husband and wife team John and Desiree Chantarasak will open their first restaurant this autumn in partnership with MJMK Restaurants.

Following several highly acclaimed pop-ups and residencies, the duo will now bring AngloThai, their unique take on Thai-British cuisine with a European-focused wine list, to their first bricks-and-mortar venue on Seymour Place in Marylebone.

AngloThai marries bold, flavour-driven cooking with seasonal ingredients sourced within the British Isles. Chef and co-founder John will serve his interpretation of Thai cuisine, drawing inspiration from both his Thai and British heritage. The food will be complemented by Desiree's wine selection, drawing on her passion for excellent wine grower craftsmanship.

Dining at AngloThai

Guests can expect a food offering that changes seasonally, with à la carte dishes designed to be shared, as is traditional in Thai culture, and guests will also have the option to dine from a daily changing chef selection menu.

The couple will champion slow-grown British-reared meats, such as black-faced Hebridean sheep from Ryall Farm in Dorset, owned and farmed by Desiree's family. Line-caught seafood, British caviar and Carlingford oysters will feature prominently, as well as seasonal vegetables, fruit and foraged foods that are domestically seasonal but also British-grown Asian produce, such as holy basil, young ginger root, makrut citrus and chillies.

Restaurant interiors have been designed with leading Thai-American designer May Redding. Inspiration is drawn from Thailand's contemporary design movement, championing its distinctive blend of vibrant ecosystem and supportive infrastructure for design and craftsmanship.

The main restaurant will offer 50 covers, and later in the year, 'Baan' – named after the Thai word for home – will provide a private dining space that encapsulates the couple's passion for homely hospitality.
