Cochran extends partnership with plant-based brand

Chef James Cochran has extended his partnership with plant-based brand Eatplanted, launching a brand-new dish, Eatplanted Buttermilk Fried Jerk Chicken, at his fine dining restaurant 12:51.

As Cochran's flagship restaurant, 12:51 aims to make fine dining approachable, offering a relaxed atmosphere and an innovative approach to classic cookery. With heritage hailing from St. Vincent in the Caribbean and Glasgow, Scotland, as well as growing up by the sea in Whitstable, Kent, the chef's mixed influences are reflected in his menu, which changes every month.

The limited-edition dish is available to purchase from now until the end of March.

Cochran comments: "I’m really excited to offer our vegetarian guests the chance to try a version of my signature best seller. For the next month, come and enjoy the Eatplanted Buttermilk Fried Jerk Chicken made using plant-based and award winning Eatplanted chicken. It really does the 12:51 favourite justice with its great texture and versatility."

Matt Done from Eatplanted adds: "We’re pleased to be able to extend our partnership with James and be on the menu at 12:51. Our indulgent Chicken Tenders widen the options for those who are adopting flexitarian and plant-based diets, giving them even more choice when eating out."

Eatplanted’s products are produced in Switzerland and contain 0% additives, using a delicious combination of proteins from peas, sunflowers and oats to create plant-based meats. They include dietary fibres whilst containing all essential amino acids to ensure they are a high-quality source of protein.

Cochran opened 12:51 in Islington, north London in 2018 – the same year he won the BBC’s Great British Menu, a feat he repeated in 2020. He is also co-founder of Valderrama’s – London’s first inclusive sports bar, where his concept, Around the Cluck is the resident food offering.
