Franco Manca opens relocated Brixton site

The Fulham Shore, which owns and operates 27 branches of The Real Greek and 70 Franco Manca restaurants, has announced the opening of its relocated flagship Brixton venue.

Founded in 2008 in Brixton market, Franco Manca's sourdough pizza concept champions seasonal ingredients and homemade dough, proved over 24 hours from an 18th-century starter. The brand currently has over 70 outposts across Europe in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and Spain.

The new flagship restaurant has now taken on a more prominent site opposite Brixton train station. It expands Franco Manca's local capacity, featuring a larger kitchen and increasing the number of covers to 100.

The expansion trail

The launch marks the start of a new chapter for The Fulham Shore. Now part of Toridoll Group – the Tokyo-listed restaurant conglomerate with more than 1,900 restaurants in 30 countries and regions – and leveraging its partner Capdesia's European operational expertise, The Fulham Shore is looking to accelerate the growth trajectory of both brands.

As part of its expansion strategy, Franco Manca has recently launched its second European franchised site in Portrush, Northern Ireland. The group will also open its newest restaurant in Plymouth city centre in March, strengthening its footprint in the south-west.

On top of this, The Real Greek will make its debut in Liverpool later this month. The restaurant, a 3,900 sq ft space within the Liverpool ONE shopping and Leisure complex, will have more than 162 covers, including 38 outside.

Marcel Khan, CEO of The Fulham Shore, comments: "We're delighted to open our new site in Brixton and ensure that Brixton is, and continues to be, Franco Manca's home for years to come. Our new pizzeria is bigger and better and situated in a more convenient location, meaning that we can better serve local customers both in the restaurant and at home.

"This also marks the start of a hugely exciting chapter for The Fulham Shore as we scale up The Real Greek and Franco Manca's footprint. Both brands have huge potential and our new openings in Liverpool, Portrush and Plymouth, offer a great opportunity to expand into new, previously unserved locations and introduce many more customers to both brands."
