Hallsworth's pop-up returns with first permanent site

London-based pop-up Freak Scene has announced its long-awaited return, set to arrive in Parson’s Green in March.

Founded by ex-Nobu chef Scott Hallsworth, Freak Scene was a pioneer of the capital's pop-up restaurant scene, taking over spaces in Soho and Farringdon, and providing pan-Asian dishes in an informal setting.

After almost three years out of action, Freak Scene – rebranded for its revival – is preparing for its return, with Hallsworth bringing the concept to Parson’s Green High Street this spring. Moving on from its pop-up roots, the new Freak Scene will be its first permanent bricks-and-mortar site, offering a more extensive menu and refreshed interior design. Seating will be split between a bar/counter and traditional restaurant tables, culminating in 46 covers.

The small plates menu will feature former Freak Scene favourites with a refined, elevated twist, alongside fresh and seasonal sushi and sashimi, as well as seasonal fish dishes based on the day's fresh catch.

Freak Scene’s return comes in the wake of a partnership between Hallsworth and fellow Australian Adam Hills. The acclaimed comedian, known for his stand-up and hosting of Channel 4’s The Last Leg, has joined the cause after becoming a fan of Freak Scene’s early pop-ups.
