Nord coming to Liverpool this month

Brand-new luxury dining space Nord is set to open at the 18-storey Plaza in Liverpool this month. Joint operators, GSG.Hospitality and chef Daniel Heffy have revealed a first look at the menu ahead of the restaurant’s opening.

GSG.Hospitality is an award-winning independent hospitality group with venues in Liverpool and Manchester. Developed in partnership with Liverpool chef, Daniel Heffy, Nord will offer relaxed dining with a focus on ingredients from regional producers and a menu that celebrates Northern heritage.

Influenced by Heffy’s time in Scandinavia, dishes include: Cornish white crab with sour cream, pickled silver onion and fennel on butter fried toast; burrata with roasted butternut, kale salad and sage and hazelnut dressing; and chargrilled pork belly with baby gem and coriander salad. Baked Alaska also features on the dessert menu, made using a chocolate from Denmark called Xoco, which is one of the only companies in the world growing single bean chocolate. It will be served alongside a chocolate Swiss roll, topped with pistachio ice cream and finished with a soy meringue. 

A native of Liverpool, Heffy's career has spanned the city – including founding cult supper club Secret Diners Club – before being appointed head chef at local favourite, Buyers Club. He was also a driving force behind the successful street food concept Cahita.

The chef then moved to Stockholm in 2017 to work in Frantzén, widely known as one of the best restaurants in the world before joining the esteemed Nordic restaurant, Adam/Albin as head chef.

Heffy comments: "I’m incredibly excited to finally reveal a taste of what’s to come at Nord. While the menu focusses on mainly British ingredients and style, there will also be influences from my experience in Stockholm with plenty of fresh fish, pickled items and contrasting flavours.

"Partnering with the best suppliers the North has to offer has always been the ethos for Nord and I’m proud to be working with some of the top businesses around to create a menu unlike the city has seen before."

Nord officially opens Thursday 23 March 2023.
