Peruvian joint Llama Inn heading from NY to London

Peruvian restaurant Llama Inn, which opened in Brooklyn in 2015, is to open a new restaurant in London in September. Known for its modern approach to Peruvian cuisine, Llama Inn will bring its signature dishes and NYC cocktails to the rooftop restaurant at The Hoxton, Shoreditch from 1 September.

The opening is a partnership with Carte Blanched, Ennismore’s in-house restaurant studio responsible for the food and beverage concepts in the company’s global portfolio of hotels, including The Hoxton.

Led by Juan Correa and chef Erik Ramirez, Llama Inn has become a cult favourite in New York’s restaurant scene. Llama Inn London will be in the spirit of the Brooklyn original, with a menu that draws inspiration from Ramirez’s Peruvian-American background.

Llama Inn London will initially open for lunch and dinner, with a weekend brunch offering to be launched later this year. The kitchen will be headed up by Marcin Maliczowski, who has worked at famed Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio’s Barcelona restaurant Yakumanaka. The opening menu includes a line-up of signature snacks, ceviche, small plates and larger sharing dishes.

Llama Inn Brooklyn is known for having one of the best cocktail menus in New York, created by bar director Natasha Bermudez. Llama Inn London will feature many of Bermudez’s signature serves, including the ‘Chupetini (one shot martini)’ – Japanese gin, dry vermouth, umami bomb and blue cheese olives – and the ‘Llama Del Rey’, made from pisco quebranta, dark rum, red wine, chicha morada and pineapple.

Llama Inn’s hospitality director Daniella Lauricella has created a wine list that features bottles from small, independent growers across the world, with a focus on low-intervention and biodynamic producers.

With its own entrance on Willow Street, Llama Inn will sit atop The Hoxton, Shoreditch. A fully outdoor terrace at the far end of the room offers the outdoor dining experience and uninterrupted views of the London skyline. Inside, the space is defined by bright colours, green foliage, and comfortable seating booths and sofas that lend the room a smart yet cosy feel.
