Studio Five to open in June

A new restaurant and live music venue is coming to Wembley Park Studios in June.

Having been forced to close just two months into opening when lockdown was declared, Studio Five is now set to make its post-pandemic debut. Located within the 1,200-capacity Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, the standalone restaurant draws on the locale's historic connection with music legends.

The 100-cover venue will be open five days a week, positioned just a short stroll from Wembley Park station. Guests can look forward to standout dishes such as crispy whole-fried aubergine with coconut raita, Blythburgh pork cutlet with Kashmiri chilli, and a modern take on fish and chips accompanied by minted pea purée and chilli ketchup. Each dish is designed to complement lively dinners, weekend brunches and pre- and post-theatre visits.

The rich history of Studio Five

Over the last century, the site on which Studio Five sits has been home to Fox Films, ITV and Limehouse. In 1964, The Beatles performed there and, in 1991, just six months before his untimely death, Freddie Mercury recorded his final music video – These Are the Days of Our Lives – at the studios. From 1993 to 2017 the site was operated by Fountain, who ushered in huge shows such as The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent and the UK-based episodes of Friends.

The site is co-owned by Olivier Award-winning producers Oliver Royds and BOS Productions, and Broadway and West End theatre producer Tristan Baker. Between them, the pair have been behind such productions as David Bowie's Lazarus, Guys & Dolls, The Railway Children and Disney's Newsies. They plan to use their entertainment experience to pay homage to their site's cultural legacy.

"Having had an incredibly unlucky false start with Covid back in 2020, we’re beyond excited to finally give Studio Five the debut it deserves," says Royds. "Our opening will coincide with the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre’s exciting summer launch of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express, but our restaurant will be so much more than a place to visit pre or post-theatre; it will be a destination that promises a dining and entertainment experience unlike anywhere else."
