Aloe brothers to launch new branch of Berberè
On 5 December, Calabrian brothers Matteo and Salvatore Aloe will open a new branch of Berberè on Tottenham Court Road.
With restaurants in Kentish Town and Clapham and 20 pizzerias in their home country, Italy, Berebrè already has a well-established reputation.
Founded in 2010, the brand is known for its signature dough, made using 24-hour proofed, live sourdough, made in-store daily using organic type 1 flour with a 14-year-old starter.
The Tottenham Court Road menu will offer a selection of favourites, including the margherita; the signature diavola piccante with spicy salami, Calabrian 'nduja and Neapolitan mozzarella; and the norma with baked aubergine, basil and walnut pesto and fior di latte mozzarella. For the holiday season, a Christmas-themed pizza topped with cotechino sausage, cavolo nero, dijon mustard, horseradish, Asiago cheese and fior di latte mozzarella will be available across all of the brand's pizzerias.
Berberè's wine list includes Italian wines and beers from London brewery, Two Tribes, as well as a concise cocktail menu featuring Italian classics, such as a Negroni and Campari Spritz.
Co-founder Salvatore says of the opening: "There's a reason why London was where we decided to open our first pizzeria outside of Italy. Both myself and Matteo feel it is a city in synergy with Berberè and everything we want to represent with the brand – it is vibrant, influenced by many cultures and cuisines and is constantly evolving. 2024 has been an important year for Berberè, having opened in Bologna, Florence and Milan, and opening a new pizzeria in the heart of city like London feels like the perfect way to close the year."
