Gaucho receives two-star sustainability rating

Gaucho, a steakhouse brand owned and operated by Rare Restaurants, has been awarded a two-star rating (out of a maximum of three) from The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) across its 20-strong estate.

The restaurant group is now among only 19 restaurants in the UK to hold this accolade. The recognition highlights Gaucho's standing among the country's most sustainable restaurants, reflecting its dedication to responsible practices within hospitality.

The SRA's two-star rating, often compared to the Michelin Guide for sustainability, acknowledges Gaucho's efforts in responsible sourcing, environmental impact reduction and societal contributions. The award represents the culmination of extensive sustainability initiatives across the brand's estate.

'Sustainability is at the core of our restaurants'

Martin Williams, CEO of Rare Restaurants, expresses pride in Gaucho's achievement, saying: "Sustainability is at the core of our restaurants. We are thrilled to receive this two-star rating, especially as we're one of just 19 restaurants in the UK to attain this status. Our sustainability operations manager has played a pivotal role in driving our efforts across the business, assessing our carbon emissions, focusing on reducing waste and how we communicate with our teams.

"We are also proud to lead the UK hospitality industry towards net zero emissions by 2040, actively collaborating with The SRA, the Zero Carbon Forum and like-minded restaurants to implement solutions that reduce carbon emissions."
