Orelle appoints new executive chef

D&D London has announced the appointment of a new executive chef at its only Birmingham venue

Having overseen kitchen operations at German Gymnasium, Klosterhaus, Skylon and Le Pont de la Tour, Kiran Suvarna is now set to take the helm at Orelle, bringing 21 years of industry experience. 

Mumbai-born Suvarna completed his Post Graduation in Culinary Arts from Hammersmith & West London College. He then worked with brands such as Taj, Hyatt, Hilton and quickly became appointed with D&D London Group as chef de partie at Le Pont de la Tour and worked alongside his mentor, chef-patron Lee Bennet, who is currently global director of Gordon Ramsay Restaurant Group Holdings.

Suvarna has since moved to Singapore and cooked alongside chef Jason Atherton in restaurants Pollen and Esquina, also running luxury hotel Oasia Downtown as head chef. 

He moved back to Mumbai in 2019 to connect with his roots and explore native Indian cuisine. He was appointed the youngest executive chef at Le Meridien, Marriott International. He also worked as director of culinary at both Ninos and Francescos.

Returning to London in 2022, Suvarna came back to D&D, taking on German Gymnasium, Klosterhaus in Bristol, Skylon in Waterloo before making his way back to Le Pont de la Tour. 

Orelle

Listed in the Harden's Guide less than six months after launching, Orelle has subsequently been awarded Best Restaurant in Birmingham at this year's British Restaurant Awards. The venue is located on the 24th floor of 103 Colmore Row and offers panoramic views of the city.

I'm looking forward to leading the kitchen team and ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional food to every one of the restaurant's loyal and new guests. It's an exciting time for the culinary scene in the Midlands and I'm grateful to be a part of it."
