Richard Caring's restaurants fight child food poverty

Bill's, Caprice Holdings restaurants, The Ivy Collection and The Birley Clubs are supporting The Caring Family Foundation's new campaign that targets child food poverty.

Food From the Heart has been created by the foundation to highlight "the disasterous impact Covid-19 has had on the already existing and now growing problem of child food poverty across the UK'.

Richard Caring, who owns the aforementioned restaurants, issued a statement to customers, asking them to support the cause and outlining the actions his businesses have already taken:

"As a father, the thought of a child going hungry is abhorrent," he says. "Thirty-seven percent of children in London are living in poverty - that's over 500,000 children. In 2019, only 16.9% of children attending nursery, primary and secondary state schools, were known to be eligible to claim free school meals. That is awful.

"Our team of chefs have come together to create nutritious recipes for children, and production has already started on 80,000 meals to be delivered before Christmas, and we will carry on throughout all of 2021.

"We have partnered with FareShare and The Felix Project, whose distribution networks will deliver the meals to children who need them across the country.

"Any support that you might be able to give us to help a hungry child would be so appreciated - not only by us, but by children who you will help who are going without.

"Thank you so much."
