Gunpowder launches festive chicken for home delivery
Contemporary Indian restaurant Gunpowder has launched a festive-stuffed chicken, available for home delivery just in time for Christmas.
The brand, which has sites in Spitalfields, Tower Bridge and Soho, has taken the stress out of cooking and entertaining this holiday season, offering the chicken as a turkey alternative centrepiece.
The dish is an interpretation of the popular murgh musallam – a whole chicken marinated in Indian spices, then stuffed with boiled eggs. Gunpowder's version will use the highest-quality, Cornish, corn-fed chicken from Butcher & Edmonds, marinated for 30-hours in yoghurt, then smothered in homemade roasted pepper purée and tandoori spices. The bird is also filled with a black pork mince stuffing with dried apricots, hot lime, mango pickle, ginger, chilli and spices, with a boiled egg nestled in the centre.
The chicken is then topped with fennel, melon, blue poppy seeds and chilli flakes, ready to be roasted. The dish is accompanied by makhani sauce, made in-house with ginger, garlic, tomatoes and spices. Chef recommends serving the chicken alongside roasted cumin and turmeric potatoes and greens.
Gunpowder’s festive stuffed chicken is available for nationwide delivery on Thursday 23 December, ready to be enjoyed anytime over the Christmas weekend. The bird generously serves two people and comes pre-prepared, ready to be cooked.
