Independent London pizzeria launches 6th site
London-based independent pizzeria Zia Lucia is opening its ninth site in Balham today (Thursday 9 December).
Having first launched in Islington in 2016 before going on to launch in Wembley, Wandsworth, Islington, Hammersmith and Aldgate East, the brand's sixth venue is situated at 65 Balham High Road.
To celebrate the opening, founders Claudio Vescovo and Gianluca D'Angelo are offering half price pizzas throughout the week, from 9–15 December.
Zia Lucia's first restaurant on Holloway Road was known for its unusual doughs, toppings and Italian community flair. Its range of 48-hour slow-fermented doughs include traditional white flour, wholemeal, gluten-free and a vegetable charcoal black base.
The brand's pizzas range from £7-13 and feature fresh Italian toppings, with its signature Arianna – featuring mozzarella, gorgonzola, fresh sausage, honey and truffle oil – and Andrea Pirlo – mozzarella, gorgonzola, apple, truffle oil and olive pathe – pizzas being available on all four bases. Other topping choices include fiery 'nduja, spicy spianata salami, truffle sauce, honey, burrata, rich blue cheese gorgonzola and roasted pepperoni. The menu will also offer seasonal specials and vegan options.
A selection of Italian-style starters, plates and desserts are also available, with the drinks menu focusing on the beer brand Birra Cabriolè, Italian style cocktails including Campari and Aperol Spritz, as well as wine and prosecco sourced from a small Italian producer.
