Gunpowder Tower Bridge to introduce breakfast offering
London's popular Indian restaurant Gunpowder will branch out into the breakfast category next month.
From 14 March, guests will be able to enjoy a mid-week power breakfast, with innovative dishes inspired by the Goan coast.
Available from Monday to Saturday, Gunpowder Tower Bridge will serve up a wide selection of omelettes, including the Anjuna Market-style crab omelette with fresh crab meat, paired with grilled tomatoes; the Ros omelette – Gunpowder's speciality, transporting diners to the entrance of the Vasco de Gama station, served in an aromatic coconut-based curry sauce. For those who favour more classic fillings, the Market omelette pairs chilli with tomato; and the Parsi omelette combines ginger, chilli and coriander.
The Gunpowder breakfast is a more substantial dish, giving guests their choice of eggs along with butter mushrooms, grilled cherry tomatoes, fire-roasted sourdough and the brand's in-house masala beans. The brand's own take on avocado toast will also be offered, featuring fresh orange and chopped green chillis.
Lighter breakfast options will include Gunpowder's homemade granola with a combination of nuts, cinnamon, chia seeds and seasonal fruits, served with organic honey and vanilla yoghurt, or coconut yoghurt for a vegan alternative. Those with a sweeter tooth can choose Gunpowder's cardamom pancakes, topped with caramelised banana and crème fraiche.
The drinks offering will include coffee and fresh orange juice, while a selection of homemade cakes and pastries will also be available. All-butter croissants and pain au chocolat will be served alongside rose and jam cookies and traditional Indian bakes such as karachi biscuits. Gunpowder's baked goods will be available to eat in at Tower Bridge all day Monday–Saturday, as well as to take away.
While the Gunpowder group also has venues in Spitalfields and Soho, but the new breakfast offering will at first be exclusive to the brand's Tower Bridge site.
"Our new power-fuelled breakfast is the perfect welcome back to business, giving customers what they need to kick start their day to return to work – something the industry has long been waiting for," says Gunpowder founder, Harneet Baweja. "We very much look forward to seeing new and exciting customers come through our doors soon."
