Comptoir Group appoints new CEO
Comptoir Group Plc, owner and operator of Lebanese and eastern Mediterranean restaurants, has announced the appointment of Nick Ayerst as chief executive officer, effective from 17 October 2022.
Ayerst has more than 30 years' experience in hospitality, having previously worked as managing director for Leon – the UK's leading healthy fast-food chain, having been brought on board in 2020 to restructure the brand's operational model. He is known for investing in new technology and increasing efficiencies, as well as for developing growth strategies – including Leon's drive-thru model and franchising partnerships.
Prior to his role at Leon, Ayerst spent 15 years in leadership riles at The Restaurant Group (TRG), where he served as a member of the executive team. Between 2013 and 2020, he was managing director of TRG Concessions, which operates restaurants, bars and QSR outlets in airports, stations, shopping centres and Hilton Hotels. During this time, Ayerst implemented short- and long-term growth opportunities, more than doubling revenue and profit and overseeing the opening of 45 new sites.
Ayerst takes over from Jean-Michel Orieux, who has been interim CEO since August. He will revert to his role as independent non-executive director.
The appointment of Ayerst, along with the recent appointments of Beatrice Lafon as independent non-executive chair and Jean-Michel Orieux, significantly strengthens the senior leadership team as the company seeks to accelerate its growth trajectory.
On his appointment, Ayerst comments: "I am joining Comptior Group at an exciting time for the company. The strength of the Comptoir brand, talented team and vision of the new board to grow the business and deliver the best in class offering for its guests make this a great opportunity. I see tremendous potential for the company to grow and capture the market share and I look forward to building on Comptoir's success."
