Unox begins Burnt Chef Project fundraiser

Unox UK team members are set to cover the equivalent of 1,000 miles to raise funds for The Burnt Chef Project.

The team will walk, run, swim or cycle the 1,000 miles - the distance from Padova in Italy, where Unox's global head office is, to Camberley in Surrey, the site of its new Experience Centre - from 1 November to 16 December.

The goal is to raise £10,000 for the cause and raise awareness of mental health issues in the foodservice and hospitality sector. It is set to be the first in a series of fundraisers from Unox and comes after the announcement of a new partnership with The Burnt Chef Project.

The Burnt Chef Project has been leading the charge to eliminate the stigma around mental health in the hospitality sector since launching in 2019. Research demonstrates that as many as four in five hospitality professionals have experienced mental health challenges, yet 46% of those would not feel comfortable talking about it with their peers.

By completing the challenge to cover the distance between Padova and Camberley, the Unox UK team hope to raise £5,000, which will then be matched by Unox S.p.A. to reach the £10,000 target.

Among other crucial areas of support, this fundraising could be allocated by The Burnt Chef Project to fund more than 250 licences to the Thrive Mental Wellbeing app, a resource that is trusted by the NHS, available in nine languages and allows for 24/7 support for users.
