The Thesleff Group acquires Sale e Pepe in Knightsbridge

The Thesleff Group has acquired the iconic Italian restaurant, Sale e Pepe, Knightsbridge, ahead of its 50th anniversary. The acquisition includes the leasehold of the restaurant premises and the existing restaurant brand.

Founded by Markus Thesleff in 2019, the Thesleff Group owns both Los Mochis, the Mexican-Japanese restaurant and agaveria bar, as well as Viajante87, the recently opened zero-waste experiential cocktail bar in Notting Hill. The group is set to welcome the flagship Los Mochis City in Broadgate Circle, a 14,000 sq ft restaurant on the rooftop of 100 Liverpool Street, this autumn. 

Sale e Pepe, started out of a shop front on Pavilion Road in 1974, and was further extended in 1985. The institution has since attracted an illustrious clientele of royalty, politicians, actors and singers, with regular patrons including Rod Stewart, Sir Roger Moore, Priscilla Presley and Ringo Starr.

The menu will include such favourites as Linguine all’Aragosta – linguine with lobster, cherry tomatoes, basil and garlic; and Sogliola alla Mugnaia – Dover sole (500g) with olive oil, lemon and herbs. It will also feature new additions such as Vitello Tonnato – thinly sliced Veal with Tuna and Capers Sauce; Insalata di Granchio  – crab and avocado salad with tomato concassé, spring onions, chives and lemon dressing; and finally Linguine alle Vongolle – linguine with fresh clams, garlic and parsley.

Sale e Pepe's original manager Toni Corricelli comments: "Since 1974, it has been an honour and a pleasure to be of service ... at Sale e Pepe. It took me a while to find the right person to pass the baton onto and I believe Markus and the Thesleff Group are the best choice to carry on the tradition of S&P with the same enthusiasm and dedication in serving not only the Knightsbridge clientele but London, the UK and the rest of the world."
