Browns Covent Garden to re-launch as group turns 50

To celebrate the group’s 50th birthday, Browns – a brand owned and operated by Mitchells & Butlers – will re-launch its Covent Garden venue, following a £2m refurbishment of the Grade II listed building.

Set to re-open on 4 April, the main dining room will feature art deco styling, with the three private dining rooms also getting a brand-new look. The site will also launch a new bespoke cocktail bar upstairs.

A special 50th Birthday afternoon tea will be offered to mark the re-launch, as well as a new cocktail created for the occasion.

Tameka Percival, general manager, comments: "Celebrating 50 years of Browns is an incredibly significant milestone for the group and we couldn’t be more proud. The refurbishment of our Covent Garden site is our biggest yet and its prime location in London’s West End is a favourite among our customers. We can’t wait to reopen doors for both returning guests and new visitors with this exciting transformation!"

The kitchen will launch the brand's spring specials at the same time, including dishes such as chicken schnitzel with a lemon and thyme crumb, fried heritage hen egg, dressed salad or fries; shepherd’s pie with slow-cooked pulled lamb shoulder in red wine and herbs served with tenderstem broccoli; traditional fish and chips with a pea and mint purée, tartare sauce and thick-cut chips. A chef’s special of Surf & Turf will be served Thursday to Saturday, featuring a whole fresh lobster and two 7oz fillet steaks to share, served with cherry wine tomatoes, watercress, fries and a choice of sauces. Weekend offerings include bottomless brunch and a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings.
