Maison François to host Mission Ukraine fundraiser
On Monday 13 March, Frank’s, located under Maison François, will host a party and prize raffle in support of Mission Ukraine UK, with all proceeds made on the evening going towards the organisation’s relief efforts in Ukraine, following the Russian invasion in 2022.
Mission Ukraine UK is an independent organisation run by volunteers, who carry out back-to-back missions to Ukraine, providing emergency power and humanitarian aid to the region's most affected by the Russian offensive. Maison François also has a personal connection to the charity, following team member Rose Cecil’s volunteer efforts just before the festive period last year.
The restaurant’s long-standing general manager, Yuri Horpinchenko, also hails from Ukraine and has been deeply affected by the thousands of lives lost to the conflict. Founder François O’Neill and his team are determined to support the charity’s efforts and offer vital funding to continue to complete these crucial missions and provide aid.
The evening will start at 6pm with a menu of Ukrainian-inspired small bites and nibbles devised by executive chef Matthew Ryle, including crudites with a Kiev garlic dip, cheese vareniki and pork shashlik with spiced ketchup. These can be enjoyed alongside cocktails featuring the Ukrainian-made Dima vodka, as well as a selection of handpicked wines from Maison François’ extensive wine cellar.
Following this, the venue will host a grand raffle, offering up an array of incredible prizes including dinner and an overnight stay for two at Updown Farmhouse, the idyllic restaurant with rooms near Deal in Kent, dinner for two at Rambutan, Cynthia Shanmugalingam’s debut restaurant in London, a one-off piece of art from artist and founder of Sessions Arts Club, Jonny Gent and hampers from Lina Stores, Belazu and Secret Smokehouse.
O’Neill says of the upcoming event: "The war in Ukraine has touched all of us personally here at Maison François. Our general manager Yuri is from Ukraine, and another team member, Rose, has been volunteering there, helping bring vital resources to the country. We wanted to keep doing our part and support such an important cause and we do hope many will join us to do so!"
