New Chotto Matte menu set to rival Sunday roasts

Nikkei dining brand Chotto Matte will introduce a Steak & Sushi Sundays menu on 16 April, with the launch set to rival the traditional Sunday lunch offer.

For a set price of £50, guests will be able to experience dishes from both the sushi counter and robata grill.

Sourced from Yorkshire, the specially selected olive-fed wagyu alcatra will be served with red anticucho butter, green bean tempura and Chotto Matte’s signature smoked purple potato mash for a bold Nikkei twist.

Featured signature sushi dishes will include salmon nigiri shiso and marinated ikura; seabass nigiri with mustard miso picante salsa; chu-toro nigiri with kizami wasabi salsa; yellowtail nigiri with jalapeno truffle dressing; spicy tuna crispy rice; yellowtail crispy rice; prawn cut roll; and spicy tuna roll.

Designed by executive head chef Jordan Sclare, the new concept celebrates the contrast between land and sea. Guests will be invited to explore Chotto Matte’s cooking style which combines Peruvian ingredients with traditional Japanese techniques.

"With sushi crowned our best-selling item, and our wagyu beef dishes second, it made sense to create a menu that merges the best of both, inspired by our guests," says Sclare. "It’s been a long culinary process to get this right and I am confident that Chotto goers globally will thoroughly enjoy what’s to come."

Founder Kurt Zdesar adds: "The Chotto Matte team and I wanted to create an experience that reflects the vibrant energy of our restaurant, celebrating the marriage of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine and offering a true reflection of the artistry and skill of our chefs. I can't wait for our guests to join us for this unique dining experience and make new memories with their loved ones."

Chotto Matte's new Sunday offer will be served from noon. First available in Soho and Marylebone, the menu is set to launch globally at each of the brand’s outposts including Miami, Toronto and Doha, as well as impending openings in San Francisco and Riyadh.
