Brightside launches in Cornwall
Loungers, the all-day café-bar and restaurant operator based in Bristol, has opened its second Brightside roadside diner site. Hot on the heels of Brightside Exeter’s successful launch back in February, Brightside Saltash will open on the A38 at Trerulefoot today (Thursday 8 June).
The former Route 38 site has been completely transformed over the past four months. Once inside the building, visitors are transported back in time via an almost-cinematic interior scheme that takes inspiration from the 1970s and 80s. The walls are panelled in rich cherry wood veneer inset with British landscape artwork, stone and a vintage countryside view mural, while the floor is covered in wooden parquet.
Alex Reilley, founder and chairman of Loungers plc, comments: "Brightside Saltash has been a labour of love and we can’t wait to finally welcome customers through the doors. Summer holidays are just around the corner so we hope locals and travellers on the way down to Cornwall will enjoy our reinterpretation of roadside dining. Awaiting them is top-notch hospitality and really excellent, wholesome food in warm, welcoming and stylish surroundings where they can relax and recharge."
Brightside’s menu features elevated comfort food with a twist, including breakfasts with potato croquettes and a tasty new take on the classic tinned tomato, burgers, sourdough pizzas with homemade San Marzano tomato sauce and an updated ham, egg and chips, featuring treacle-cured pork belly, waffle fries and a charred pineapple and chilli salsa.
Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy a delicious selection of sunny sundaes, or the Brightside brownie with soft serve ice cream and chocolate sauce. It's a family-friendly venue with lots on offer for little ones. There are also plenty of vegan and gluten-free options.
Alex Reilley continues: "Since launching Brightside Exeter back in February, we’ve been incredibly well-received, confirming our thoughts that roadside dining needed reinvigorating and that travelling shouldn’t just be about the final destination, but the journey itself. Our expertise in high-quality, great value all-day dining through our other brands means that we’re confident Brightside will bring proper hospitality back to roadside dining."
Brightside shares the same core values as Loungers’ Lounge and Cosy Club brands – a focus on all-day dining to appeal to a broad audience and a fierce commitment to value for money, run by teams that deliver exceptional service.
Loungers believes there is scope to create a truly national brand and has ambitious plans to roll out Brightside nationwide. Part of this growth includes the launch of Brightside Honiton in July.
