Tattu confirms rebrand and expansion

Tattu, the independent hospitality group with sites in London, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Birmingham, specialising in premium Chinese cuisine, has announced its rebrand to Permanently Unique. In tandem with the name change, the group has announced the growth of its restaurant portfolio on a national and global scale.

Founded in Manchester in 2015 by brothers Adam and Drew Jones, the Permanently Unique group launched Tattu London at The Outernet development in April 2022 , following the success of the existing Leeds, Birmingham and Edinburgh locations, as well as the original Tattu in Manchester. Launched to critical acclaim, the London outpost of Tattu marked a period of evolution for the group, which has led to this new chapter of growth and diversification.

In November, the group will add a brand-new food concept to its roster: Fenix. Opening in Manchester, the restaurant will focus on modern Greek–Mediterranean cuisine, live sounds and cutting-edge light technology designed to mimic the setting sun and rising moon across the Greek Isles.

The new opening will be led by two celebrated chefs recruited from Greece bringing modern techniques together with traditional ingredients and flavours. Executive head chef Ippokratis Anagnostelis has built his reputation across a wealth of fine-dining establishments in Athens and Mykonos, from Jackie ‘O, Scorpios and Kensho Mykonos to Kiku and Michelin Star destination, Hytrain. He will work alongside long-time head chef Zisis Giannouras to create a sharing-concept menu. Dishes will focus on innovative plates inspired by Greek traditions, showcasing the best of fresh seafood and locally sourced meats cooked over a charcoal-fired grill.

Going global

Tattu Dubai, Permanently Unique’s first international site, is also on the horizon, with further details to be announced in the coming months.

Group founder Adam Jones comments: "We’re incredibly proud of the brand we have built around the Tattu name and our focus on delivering a unique experience has been instrumental to its success. As we look to the future, and we introduce new cutting-edge concepts to the market, it’s important that we embody this next chapter of the business wholeheartedly. Being a homegrown Northern hospitality group with our central roots in Manchester, we have the perfect platform to showcase our learnings and progression as a group. As we continue to work to develop new hospitality spaces, our focus will remain the pursuit of innovation, excellent guest experiences and truly one-of-a-kind spaces."

A further Manchester site for Permanently Unique is penned for 2024, which will debut a third new concept for the group.
