Aqua to expand with Italian seafood site

David Yeo's Aqua Restaurant Group will open Azzurra later this year, an Italian seafood restaurant on Sloane Street in London.

Yeo says Azzurra is the culmination of his travel through Italy and his love for the culinary culture found around Sicily and the Amalfi Coast.

The latest site from Aqua will join its other London outposts, Japanese Aqua Kyoto, Aqua Nueva, Aqua Shard, northern-Chinese restaurant Hutong, Shiro, and Luci Italian Dining Bakery.

Boat to table

Azzurra will celebrate a ‘boat to table’ philosophy, using seafood from the waters of the British Isles, but prepared with 'Italian elegance and simplicity'.

There will be a raw bar, a cocktail bar and a pizza counter at the far end of the space.

"We are delighted to be launching Azzurra in Chelsea," says Yeo. "From a personal standpoint, Italy and in particular the Amalfi Coast has long held a fascination with me - some of my happiest memories feature that glittering, perfect blue of the sea, candy-coloured towns perched on rugged cliffs, and, of course, spectacular food - always prepared simply but with love. We want to bring the essence of the Amalfi Coast’s culinary passion to Sloane Street, with the very best British seafood elevated with Italian cooking techniques and flavours."

The kitchen will be overseen by Azzurra’s executive chef Andrea Mura, a Sardinian native.
