Hollywood's Danny Trejo brings taco brand to London

Hollywood actor Danny Trejo (Machete, Spy Kids, From Dusk Till Dawn, Heat) will bring his Mexican dining concept Trejo's Tacos to London's Notting Hill later this year. 

The highly-anticipated arrival of the brand to the UK market marks the first instalment of a five-year Europe-wide rollout strategy.

Located on Portobello Road, Trejo's Tacos will reside in a two-storey, 3,000 sq ft site, offering 70 covers inside and 30 on an outdoor terrace. An in-house cocktail bar will offer tequila- and mezcal-infused drinks, while an underground speakeasy with a second bar will feature DJs and provide a space to entertain after-dinner crowds. 

The menu will feature Trejo's signature dishes such as the slow-roasted pork carnitas taco served with fresh pineapple and fermented hot sauce, and Anthony Bourdain's proclaimed favourite – the streak asada taco with pepita pesto – on top of staples including shrimp tostadas, Baja-style beer-battered fish, blackened salmon and beef brisket. The restaurant will also cater for the morning market with a selection of breakfast burritos and tacos. 

Plenty of coeliac-friendly gluten-free dishes, as well as vegan, paleo and pescetarian options, will be available, including asada-style mushrooms, young jackfruit and the roasted cauliflower taco.
