Stein Group raises £11k for The National Lobster Hatchery
Rick Stein Restaurants has raised £11,000 for The National Lobster Hatchery, a marine conservation, research and education charity based in Padstow, Cornwall.
The group ran a successful 'Summer of Shellfish' campaign from June to August, including a Cornish lobster and chips special for £34.95, with £1 from every dish donated to The National Lobster Hatchery.
The hero dish was offered alongside several others, all of which aimed to encourage more people to try a range of British shellfish – available at restaurants in Sandbanks, Barnes, Winchester and Marlborough, plus The Cornish Arms, St Petroc's Bistro and Rick Stein's Café in Cornwall.
Jack Stein, chef-director of Rick Stein Restaurants, comments: "I'm very proud of the success of our Summer of Shellfish celebration, especially raising £11,000 for The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow. Supporting local causes has always been important to our business and I want to thank everyone who enjoyed our lobster and chips special over the summer."
"We really are overwhelmed by the incredible level of donation that Stein's achieved throughout their Summer of Shellfish campaign," adds Emily Hodges, head of fundraising at The National Lobster Hatchery. "We hope that all customers feel gratified to know that simply by purchasing seafood they have played a very important part of the NLH's charitable mission. It is incredibly reassuring when those who utilise our native marine resources go out of their way to 'put back' and do their bit to help sustain vulnerable stocks for the future."
The National Lobster Hatchery primarily helps conserve the vulnerable lobster populations and preserves the coastal marine biodiversity of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Find out more here.
